Macramé Chair FAQs

What style chairs can you weave?
My most common styles are weaving-crochet hybrid technique, rush, and hole-to-hole caning, but I can reweave any type of chair. The price per portion (seat or back) of chair ranges approximately from $250-$750, depending on size and difficulty. For example, if you have a lawn chair which requires a seat and a back, the starting price is $500. Send me photos and I can tell you what works!  Every project is totally different as each chair frame is unique.

Where do the chair frames come from?
You can provide your own chair(s), purchase frames from the internet, or look through ready-to-weave chair inventory.

How I you pick patterns and colors?
Regarding chairs that use the crochet/weaving hybrid technique, I am open to choosing colors and patterns, but encourage full color and pattern customization by the client. You will be provided with a PDF of all available color and pattern combinations for you to choose from, and I also have included them here: Indoor Chair Color Chart // Outdoor Chair Color Chart

Clients also approach me with repairs for traditional caning and weaving for that require specific materials (ex: Danish paper cord or Shaker tape), which I am happy to source and repair.

Do you refurbish chairs?
I do light refurbishment, but it is an additional cost between $100-$500 per chair. For example, if I have to remove webbing and clean up the chair before weaving. I refurbish chairs to the best of my ability, but there may be nicks or rust spots that are permanent. Each chair looks a little unique if they are secondhand. If you want a set of chairs, please note that unless the chairs are my custom metal ones or if they come from a set that already exists, the chairs might be slightly different sizes or look different from each other (ex: if you want a set of two lawn chairs).

What is your turnaround time?
Maximum 6 weeks for one chair.

Do you pick up/deliver locally?
Yes! I charge by distance according to the 2025 IRS mileage reimbursement ($0.70 per mile). You are welcome to pick up at my home to avoid this charge. Longer-distance delivery and pick-up can be discussed on a case-by case basis.

Do you charge shipping?
Yes and it is not included in the weaving price. It is dependent on the chair style, and this can range greatly from about $100 to $2000. This range sounds scary, but to clarify, If you have one lawn chair, you’ll be closer to $100, but if you order a set of 8 dining chairs, you’ll be on the $2000 side of the spectrum!

Does the price include sales tax?
No, this is an additional cost.

Do you do payment plans?
I require 50% down payment for commissions, but beyond that, yes, and I am willing to work with all clients to find something that works for them within reason.

Do you weave chairs for indoor and outdoors?
I can do both, but indoor chairs are less expensive as the material cost is lower. Outdoor-safe cord adds $40 per portion of chair (ex: adds $80 to a lawn chair price).

A few notes on outdoor chairs:
Direct sunlight may increase chances of color fading over time, creating a more pastel look. I spray each chair with UV-protecting spray, but cannot predict the outcome of prolonged sun. I strongly recommend bringing chairs indoors once the weather turns cold. You are welcome to choose indoor cord for an outdoor chair if that is aesthetically preferable as all materials are plastic-based, but there is a chance it will not last quite as long or might look dirty faster. Covered porches are probably best for your outdoor chairs regardless! The indoor materials are softer to the touch.
